WA vehicle sales up 17.7% in year to date

The boom in Western Australian motor vehicle sales continued in February, with year-to-date sales up 17.7 per cent to 18,554, which was 2,785 more than in the previous corresponding period.

That compares to the national average growth rate of 9 per cent, with WA leading the nation in year to date sales.

The month of February saw the Australian capital Territory secure an 18 per cent jump in car sales compared to the previous corresponding period, with WA's 17.9 per cent rise, with the sale of 9,625 vehicles, coming in a very close second.

Toyota continued to monopolise the top of the sales league ladder, with year-to-date sales hitting 4,318, a more than 26 per cent increase on the previous corresponding period.

Hyundai sales, by contrast, were down 10.5 per cent to 1,260 for the year.

Ford was better at 10.5 per cent growth to 1,717 while Holden was down 0.9 per cent to 2,508.

Top WA truck brand Isuzu saw sales climb 22.3 per cent to 148 for the year-to-date, while Hino sales jumped 4.5 per cent to 115.
