Daily COVID cases in Western Australia have dipped overnight, but the numbers of COVID-positive people in hospital and intensive care have risen.

WA Health reported 15,565 new COVID cases up to 8pm last night, bringing the total number of active cases in the state to 81,843.

There were 279 people with COVID-19 in hospital, with 12 in ICU, in the past 24 hours.

The new COVID cases reported overnight is a slight drop from yesterday's reported 16,670 cases.

However, hospitalisation numbers are up from the reported 275 people with COVID in hospital and eight in ICU yesterday.

Today's report includes three COVID-related deaths, being a woman in her 50s, a man in his 80s and a man in his 90s.

The deaths were all historical, dating back to May 5, but were only reported to WA Health yesterday.
