Former Perth Wildcats chief executive and owner Andrew Vlahov has been flagged as the new head of thermal energy company Enerji, as the company announces a board shake-up.

In a statement, Enerji said Mr Vlahov had been involved in business development with the company since March, initially appointed for a three-month term.

“In this period, Mr Vlahov has made a substantial contribution to progressing Enerji’s pipeline of projects, include the mandate and letter of commitment from Northern Star Resources for the hybrid solar thermal power project,” Enerji said.

Mr Vlahov has been chief executive of RV Sport since 2008 and held a senior position at the Perth Wildcats between 1999 and 2009.

Prior to that, he was a professional sportsman, playing with the Wildcats for 11 years, and represented Australia in four Olympics and three world championships.

Meanwhile, the company also announced director of Directional Systems Australia Rod Phillips had been appointed as non-executive chairman of Enerji with immediate effect, following the resignation of Steven Formica at the company’s annual general meeting today.

Mr Phillips was the managing director of outdoor advertising company Perth Sign for 26 years.

John Dekker was also appointed as a non-executive director, following Peter Thomas’s resignation today.

Mr Dekker is a member of the Housing Association and a director of a property development company in Albany.

Enerji shares rose 14.2 per cent to 4.8 cents a share at 11:15am.
