One of the two brothers who founded Bassendan-based Hofmann Engineering, Erich F Hofmann, died one day after his 84th birthday.

Mr Hofmann and his brother, John, arrived in Australia from Germany in 1959.

The brothers set up a small toolmaking shop in Perth in 1969, which has grown to Hofmann Engineering.

Hofmann Engineering confirmed its co-founder's death, with John Hofmann providing a statement on his brother's passing.

"My brother, Erich F Hofmann, co-founder of Hofmann Engineering Pty Ltd passed away on Friday March 8 2024, one day after his 84th birthday," he said.

"Working as one unique team for 65 years made Hofmann Engineering a competitive success worldwide.

"The Hofmann family, staff and I will miss my brother dearly."

Hofmann Engineering is based in Bassendean but has offices across the country and internationally.

The company has a focus on investing in R&D and modern equipment, with precision engineering of gears for the resources and energy sectors.

Business News previously reported that Hofmann Engineering employs nearly 400 people in WA and has expanded to have operations in Victoria, Queensland, South America and North America.
