PROFESSOR Lance Twomey (pictured), a former Curtin vice-chancellor was appointed to the title of Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak, which carries the Malaysian state title of Dato, as part of Sarawak’s 45th anniversary of independence within Malaysia. Professor Twomey was vice-chancellor from 1997-2006. Emeritus Professor John de Laeter has been inducted into the Australian Prospectors and Miners Hall of Fame for his research in making improvements to mining exploration practices.
