Stephen Daly has stepped down as chief operating officer for Minderoo Foundation and Tattarang after a three-and-a-half year stint inside the Forrest family businesses.

Mr Daly joined the Forrest family's philanthropic and investment vehicle in 2019 after starting his career working for the likes of NAB and AMP in Sydney.

While he has resigned his executive positions and directorships of Tattarang-backed RM Williams, Harvest Road and Fiveight, he will retain his position on the board of Western Force, which is also owned by Andrew Forrest.

His departure coincides with several high-profile exits at Fortescue Metals Group and Fortescue Future Industries, including former Reserve Bank of Australia deputy governor Guy Debelle, who left as FFI's chief financial officer earlier this month.

FFI cited his recovery from a serious bike accident as reason.

Andrew Hagger, with whom Mr Daly had worked at NAB, left as Minderoo's chief executive last month, with John Hartman stepping in to replace him.

Elsewhere, Woodside Energy's Fiona Hick has been named as FMG's new chief executive, replacing recently departed boss Elizabeth Gaines.
