A TECHNOLOGY Precinct in Bentley has been developed to complement activities in and around the existing Technology Park.
Commerce and Trade Minister Hendy Cowan said the Bentley Technology Park, which houses 82 companies employing more than 2,400 people, was the most successful Technology Park in Australia and was recognised internationally as a leader in its field.
“The aim of the Technology Precinct is to build on the park’s success by developing links with surrounding industry, community and educational facilities to enhance the economic potential of the wider area,” Mr Cowan said.
Organisations and facilities surrounding the Technology Park include research and development organisations, manufacturing industry, government agencies, educational institutions, recreational facilities and social and community organisations.
A board has been created to manage the expanded precinct to be chaired by Marian Tye, a businesswoman and academic with a background in enterprise development and business facilitation. Mr Cowan said the board had a range of expertise in all areas embraced within the precinct, including research, education, technology, community, youth and aged issues, enterprise development, land development and planning.
Other board members include Sheffield Estates Pty Ltd director Paul Conti, Independent Living Centre of WA executive director Debbie Doncon, CANDA Holdings Pty Ltd managing director Allan Tranter, Curtin University vice chancellor Paul Rossiter and Minter Ellison’s corporate and commercial group head John Poulsen.
