Rare earths miner Lynas Corporation has appointed former Telstra chief executive Ziggy Switkowski to its board of directors.
Mr Switkowski will commence his new position as non-executive director in February.
Lynas Corporation has owns the richest known deposit of rare earths in the world at Mount Weld, near Laverton.
Chairman Nicholas Curtis said the company would be looking to Mr Switkowski for guidance as Lynas begins production of its rare earths in Malaysia next year.
"The skills and experience acquired by Dr Switkowski from leadership roles with major Australian and international companies, and his background in science and technology, will complement and enhance the capabilities of the Lynas Board," Mr Curtis said.
