Surefire reels off more Yidby Road gold hits
ASX-listed junior explorer, Surefire Resources has continued to build on its exciting late 2020 gold discovery at the Yidby Road prospect with a further set of thick intersections from a follow-up reverse circulation drilling program at its Yidby gold project in WA’s south-west Murchison province. The pick of the latest assays from Yidby Road was a 26m intercept going at 2.02 grams per tonne gold from 126m including 14m at 3.01 g/t from 133m. That 14m section in turn contained 2m at 10.05 g/t from 141m.
Other notable intersections from the current 6,000m drilling campaign were a whopping 100m at an average grade of 0.53 g/t from 96m including 13m at 2.17 g/t from 113m that in turn contained 1m at 23.13 g/t from 113m.
The most recently reported drill results follow last month’s stand-out strike that came in at 44m grading an average 2.77 g/t gold from 149m including 3m at 26.47 g/t from 150m and 5m at 6.27 g/t from 177m.
Surefire Resources Managing Director, Vladimir Nikolaenko said: “The company continues to generate very thick intersections of gold mineralisation at Yidby Road that also include high-grade intervals. We have identified multiple mineralised structures across a greater than 200m corridor, and the deposit has only been drilled over a 200m strike length (and is) open to the north, south and at depth.”
Surefire says the initial phase of the current follow-up drilling at Yidby Road has been primarily aimed at extending the discovery zone that returned spectacular wide and high-grade RC drill hits late last year.
They included 56m at 1.97 g/t gold from 44m including 4m at 14.47 g/t and 40m at 3.01 g/t from 24m including 4m at 26.57 g/t.
The Perth-based company has vectored in on a north-west-south-east trending, east-dipping mineralised zone across the boundary between sheared ultramafic and mafic rocks and a large felsic “porphyry” intrusion.
According to Surefire, its follow-up drilling has extended the mineralised zone discovered in 2020 both at depth and along strike, with the zone remaining open along strike and at depth.
The new results include broad intersections containing high-grade intervals from the central and southern portions of the discovered mineralised zone.
Other parallel mineralised structures have also been perforated across a more than 200m-wide corridor.
Following interpretation and modelling of the mineralised structures, further drilling will be planned to test the thickening, high-grade, down-plunge extensions of these lode structures, both to the north-west and south-east, to further extend the Yidby Road discovery.
