Surefire primes for gold drilling near Sandstone

Surefire Resources is poised to kick off a 30-hole reverse circulation drilling campaign totalling 3,000 metres at its Victory Bore gold project near Sandstone, WA, next month.

The program will test seven target areas highlighted by significant anomalous gold with coincident geophysical anomalism.

Victory Bore was previously identified by Battle Mountain Gold more than 20 years ago with shallow rotary air blast holes defining a gold-in-soil anomaly about 4.4 kilometres long and up to 750 metres wide.

A limited reverse circulation drilling program returned encouraging gold intercepts including a metre zone grading 25.67 grams per tonne gold from 59 metres, located within a broader interval of 6m @ 5.14g/t gold from the same depth.

Despite this, subsequent gold exploration by other operators in the region has always been secondary to exploration for other commodities.

Chairman Vladimir Nikolaenko said: “Surefire has identified seven highly prospective targets for drill testing as a result of recently completed analysis of the available geology, geochemistry and detailed aeromagnetic data.”

“Collectively, the targets indicate the potential to test a highly underexplored gold system at Victory Bore, and we know the geology … contains numerous geological similarities to those that host the gold deposits of Youanmi and Sandstone.”
