State iAward winners announced

Fastwave Communications and Curtin University were among the winners at the technology industry's most comprehensive awards program, the iAwards.

The iAwards is a combined initiative driven by three peak technology industry bodies, the Australian Computer Society, Australian Information Industry ASsociati0on and the Pearcey Foundation.

Award winners included the Department of Commerce, in the e-government category, for its Community Emergency Mobile Communications project and the Australian e-Health Research Centre in the e-health category, for its remote system of diagnosing eye disease.

Curtin University took home the e-learning category, for its iPortfolio online initiative, which allows staff and students to create and publish learning experiences and professional develop,ment.

The export achievement award went to Snowden technologies for its Supervisor application, which is designed to make the process of determining ore reserves more efficient and more accurate.

I&E Systems won the industrial application category, for its Dynamic Asset Documentation software, which is used for the design and management of power and control systems.

Finally, the iAward for sustainability and green IT was awarded to Fastwave Communications, for its OceanStar marine environment monitoring system.

The state award winners will represent WA at the national iAwards in Melbourne next month.
