Six local startups have been selected to receive  investment through Spacecubed’s Plus Eight accelerator program, a total of $400,000 in funding.

The Plus Eight accelerator program started in 2016, and has since allocated nearly $1.5 million to start ups.

This year, the accelerator is backed by Woodside Petroleum, Eastcourt, RAC's BetterLabs Ventures, Mirvac, Hawaiian, Jackson MacDonald, and DFK Gooding Partners.

The start ups comprise Snackr, The Tooth Market, Tender Relief, Ready Team One, IDEA Academy, and Woltifbox.

Snackr is an in seat food delivery app for stadium events, while The Tooth Market connects patients to dentists.

Tender Relief hopes to help small businesses sharpen their approach to government tenders, Ready Team One runs virtual reality gaming, and IDEA works in education.

Woltifbox offers a delivery service with meals for dogs.

Woodside Petroleum innovation engagement manager Rob Affleck said it had been exciting to get to know the cohort of start ups.

“I was joined by mentors from Woodside’s Digital, New Energy, and Robotics teams and we all learned a lot about the emerging consumer trends that these businesses are looking to address,” Mr Affleck said.

“Corporate Venturing is a key tool for us as Woodside responds to the energy transition and other opportunities in technology and innovation.

“Startups are a great source of new ideas and can move nimbly into new trends and markets.

“We benefit from that mindset and from supporting their success.”
