Sign on the dotted line

THE beginning of a brash new trend in advertising has been heralded by a giant pair of legs in vivid red shoes in the Perth CBD.

A banner unfurled on the new St George and Victoria Apartments in St George’s Terrace this week is expected to spark a number of these large scale advertising banners on buildings throughout Perth.

Perth company Campaign Focus developed and created this banner, and principal Spiro Politis was positive about their future application

“They might be used for retail, for major promotions or for special events,” Mr Politis said.

“I believe it can be very cost effective particularly if they’re positioned where traffic stops and starts.”

Currently traditional billboards mounted on buildings can involve high set up costs but with this new technology a banner can be affixed to almost any building.

Aussie Banners sales and marketing manager Craig Joel said the only possible restriction could be imposed by the building owner or the council.

Mr Joel said the new super sized banners are competitively priced and the printing technique creates a sharper image.

“The machine we have digitally enhances images onto the material,” Mr Joel said. “This particular image is actually sewn together from 10 pieces.”

These new banners were first used for advertising in Sydney and Melbourne where they were very popular during the 2000 Olympics.
