Siberia team on starting blocks

Siberia Mining Corporation, the latest WA company to put up its hand for an autumn ASX gold float, has revealed those who will lead and manage the venture to monetise extensive tenements in the eastern goldfields.

Chairman, managing director and chief executive officer Andrew Forrest is no stranger to the region.

Mr Forrest established Anaconda Nickel Limited in 1994, underwrote the company’s initial listing, and was chief executive until 2001.

He is chairman of Athletics Australia, an executive councillor of the WA Chamber of Minerals and Energy, and is a former director of the Export Finance and Insurance Corporation.

Non-executive director Christopher Linegar is a director of SG Australia Holdings Limited and Goldtouch Technologies Inc.

He is a former executive director responsible for borrowings, money markets and foreign exchange at Société Genérale Australia Limited.

Mr Linegar is a former general manager of the international services division of Citicorp International, and was non-executive director of Anaconda Nickel.

Malcolm James will also be a non-executive director of Siberia Mining.

Mr James is the managing partner of Resource and Capital Management.

Corporate development manager Jonathan Downes has a Bachelor of Science in geology, and is experienced in geographical information systems, project valuation, development and management, financial modelling, acquisitions and joint venture negotiations.

Commercial manager and company secretary Richard Hill has a bachelor’s degree in law and an honours degree in geology.

He has 10 years’ experience in the resource industry, initially as a solicitor with Clayton Utz, and then as a geologist throughout Australia.

Technical development manager Adrian Byass holds an honours degree in geology and also a Bachelor of Economics.

His professional experience is in resource estimation, mine development and mining in the WA gold and nickel industries.

Jack Hallberg will be senior geological consultant to Siberia Mining.

Dr Hallberg has worked as a geologist for more than 40 years, in North America, South Africa and WA, and has produced a series of maps of WA’s goldfields.
