Shell has announced forthcoming changes to its board with Zoe Yujnovich to be replaced by Tony Nunan as the new executive vice-president of Australia and country chair.

Ms Yujnovich has served as chair since 2017, after succeeding Andrew Smith, and also as the executive vice-president of oil sands from 2014.

She will move into the new role of executive vice president of conventional oil and gas, based at Shell's headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands.

“It has been a privilege to lead Shell over the past three years,” Ms Yujnovich said.

“Around one quarter of Shell’s global capital is invested in Australia, and it is integral to our global strategy to lead in liquefied natural gas and move into power to provide more and cleaner energy as the system transitions from molecules to electrons in the decades ahead.

Shell’s business in Australia has constantly evolved over the past 118 years, and I’ll pass on the baton to Tony inspired by the direction we’re heading to meet the changing needs of society.”

Mr Nunan, currently vice-president of east Australia, will start in his new role in January, and will be replaced by vice-president of production support and excellence Godson Njoku.

Mr Nunan has been with Shell for nearly four years, serving also as the vice-president for the company’s QGC venture in Queensland.

He served in various roles at QGC, including managing director, vice-president of asset management and vice president of land and community management, when he joined in 2008.

Mr Nunan currently lives in Brisbane with his family and will be based at Shell's Australian headquarters in Perth; he will divide his time between the two cities and the company’s headquarters overseas.

He is also currently a board member of the National Energy Resources Australia association and member of Queensland Industry Leaders Group.
