EDUCATION is no preparation for work according to a recent survey.

The Monster.com.au survey found 25.1 per cent of Australian workers found their education offered no workforce preparation and 65.7 per cent said their preparation was “just okay”.

Monster CEO Tom Freed said 33.3 per cent of respondents in the 19 to 24 year old age bracket felt the education system had let them down.

However, more than a third of those in the 55 plus age group felt their education had served them well.

“These results show a need to reevaluate our education system. We need to look at the working environment that faces our youth today,” Mr Freed said.

“All human resource directors surveyed believe the education system is failing our youth, as do 57.6 per cent of clerical and administration staff.

“With computers being taught at school, it was not surprising to learn 26.6 per cent of respondents in the IT profession believed the education system taught them ‘very well’,” he said.
