Sandalford Wines plans stylish summer concert

SANDALFORD Wines in the Swan Valley is planning a Leeuwin Estate-style concert in the grounds of the vineyard this January.

Sources at Sandalford Wines have revealed the vineyard is trying to secure Kate Cebrano to headline the summer concert.

The one-off event has been developed to attract a younger, more vibrant crowd than the Leeuwin Estate Concert and, with this in mind, the ticket prices are expected to be accessible to a wider audience.

A spokesperson for Sandalford said the concert, backed by an 80-piece orchestra from WASO, would have a contemporary twist.

Sandalford Wines expects to sell about 5,000 tickets for the concert, which is planned to be an annual event for the winery.

“We’ve done smaller-style events but nothing to compare to this,” Sandalford Wines owner Peter Prenderville said.

“We’re trying to say it’s really quite a different style. It’s Australian talent

and it will be at a price which is a

lot more approachable and aimed

at a more contemporary audience.”

Sandalford Wines was a finalist this year in the WA Tourism Awards for the best tourism winery.

During the past few years the winery has undergone a $6 million redevelopment, which is in the final stages now and is expected to be completed in time for the concert on January 19.
