Rebuilding starts at Goldman Sachs

STOCKBROKING firm Goldman Sachs JB Were has started the process of rebuilding its Perth office by making four appointments, including the recruitment of Tait Farrow Azure co-founder Jason Farrow (pictured). Goldman Sachs was left with just three investment advisers in its Perth office after 16 staff left to join rival firm, Citi Smith Barney, which will have a total of 36 investment advisers in Perth once the recruits commence. Mr Farrow, who worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers and Macquarie Bank before helping to establish investment advisory firm Tait Farrow Azure, joined Goldman Sachs earlier this month as a senior adviser. Dwight Clark has been recruited from Capital Partners Consulting as a financial planner. Amanda Telling has transferred from Goldman Sachs’ Sydney office back to her home town of Perth as an adviser, while Michelle Loke has joined the firm as an analyst. Goldman Sachs managing director and head of private wealth management, Paul Heath, said his firm was committed to the Perth market and was aiming to rebuild its presence here. It has attempted to cover the losses from its Perth team by flying in up to eight staff from its interstate offices. “In our Perth office, we now have a total of 12 permanent, Perth-based team members, in addition to interstate colleagues working in Perth, available to assist and advise our WA clients,” Mr Heath said. “We will continue to build the team based on our very selective and rigorous recruitment process and according to the requirements of our clients.”
