Western Australia’s tourism sector is expected to get a boost from a new marketing agreement between the state government and national airline Qantas.

Under the $7.65 million, three-year deal, Qantas will promote WA destinations in Australia and overseas.

Destinations expected to be showcased include Rottnest Island, Monkey Mia, Ningaloo Reef and the Margaret River wine region.

Tourism & Transport Forum executive director Adele Labine-Romain said the agreement would help increase visitor numbers and tourist spending.

“The partnership will promote the state in key international markets through advertising, special airfares and promotions around major events and activities,” she said.

“There will also be a strong presence across online and social media platforms.”

Ms Labine-Romaine said visitors to WA currently contributed around $3.1 billion to gross state product, a number expected to grow through agreements such as the Qantas-Tourism WA partnership.
