Preparations for further land release

The state government says it will be asking for expressions of interest from developers interested in partnering it to develop land at Eglinton, in Perth's northern suburbs.

The site, about two kilometers from the coast and east of the newly extended Marmion Avenue, has the potential for 3,000 lots.

The state government hopes 7,500 people will live in the master-planned community.

Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said the Eglinton development partnership was part of the State Government's strategy to work with private developers to optimise housing availability, in light of Perth's predicted population growth to more than 3.8 million by 2051.

"The Government's intention for Eglinton is to give prospective respondents time to consider their business objectives and resourcing for the expression of interest process.

"LandCorp will be engaging with the development industry to discuss this partnering opportunity prior to releasing the EOI."

Mr Grylls said the move comes hot on the heels of last month's successful partnership announcement for 224 hectares of LandCorp land at Alkimos.
