ONE of the State’s three travel magazines is undergoing a major overhaul to improve its position in the market.

Postcards WA magazine followed the quarterly Travel Talk to the marketplace this year, followed by Scoop Traveller.

In the first step of its overhaul Postcards WA has ceased its publishing arrangement with Atticus Communications.

Channel 9 and Postcards WA television series producers, Circling Shark Productions, have teamed up with Subiaco-based publishing company Eyezon to produce the re-named Postcards Western Australia – your ultimate escape magazine.

According to Eyezon director John McLeay , the new Postcards Western Australia magazine transformation will create a benchmark for the media.

“We’ve looked at product and we are developing it to be a yardstick in the marketplace, for other players to measure their style against,” Mr McLeay said.

He also believes the move to Eyezon was well timed.

“WA has the opportunity to promote high quality top-end products and that is precisely what we’re intending to produce,” he said.

“WA is quite unique, as there are a lot of great gems unknown to the majority of the public.

“The Postcards WA television show brings certain occasions, products and businesses that go totally unnoticed to its viewers, and we intend to deliver the same findings to our readers.”

According to new editor Sian Briggs, the magazine will remain primarily tourism-based and will include travel tips, coast, adventure and short breaks sections.

New sectors to be covered will include a Postcards recommends PR section as well as companions, dining/food and wine and product pages. The publication will feature not only intrastate, but also an interstate and international flavour.

The new magazine will be based more loosely around the Postcards WA television program.
