Peel by-election attracts 8 candidates

A field of eight candidates is set to contest the Peel by-election on Saturday
3 February 2007.

The Western Australian Electoral Commission today confirmed the number of candidates and the order the names would appear on the ballot paper after nominations closed at 6 pm.

The candidates are (in ballot paper order):

The electoral roll for the Peel by-election closed on 29 November 2006, at which time there were 27,907 electors enrolled in the Peel district.

As with a State general election, voting in the by-election is compulsory for all Peel electors. Those who don't vote, risk being fined.
