PKF back in top 10

PKF Lawler has shot into the ranks of Western Australia’s top 10 accounting firms after merging with Subiaco-based Barringtons.

With 80 accountants and 100 staff, the merged practice is the ninth largest in WA, according to the BNiQ database.

An updated listing of WA accounting firms, published in next week’s edition of Business News, also shows KPMG has pipped PwC to become the state’s third-largest firm.

EY and Deloitte continue as the two largest firms in WA.

The merger of PKF Lawler and Barringtons is the latest in a series of moves that have rebuilt the PKF brand in WA, after the break-up of the old PKF practice in 2010.

The group is represented in WA through PKF Lawler and PKF Mack, which is ranked number 24 on the BNiQ list.

PKF Lawler managing director Wayne Healy said he was delighted to welcome Barringtons into the PKF International organisation.

“The merger consolidates our position as a leading mid-tier accounting and business advisory firm in Western Australia,” he said.

“The partners of both firms believe the merged business is the right size to ensure that we can continue to deliver professional, personalised service to our clients while gaining the scale required to provide the best advice to clients in an increasingly complex financial environment.”

The expanded firm will be based at Barrington’ Subiaco premises but operate under the name PKF Lawler.

Across Australia, PKF has more than 65 partners and 400 staff, across audit, taxation and specialist advisory services.
