The 60,000-seat venue was also voted Best AFL venue in Austadiums’ Stadium Awards after hosting the 2021 Grand Final.

Optus received 29 per cent of the vote, beating Melbourne Cricket Ground with 21 per cent of the vote and New South Wales’ CommBank Stadium with 12 per cent to win Best Stadium.

The stadium had a busy year for AFL, hosting the Dreamtime game, the AFL Preliminary Finals campaign, the Bledisloe Cup and the 2021 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

But it missed out on a trifecta to the MCG for Best Cricket Ground after COVID-19 travel restrictions dashed hopes of a summer of cricket in Western Australia.

Sports minister David Templeman said it had been an incredible year for the venue.

“Particularly with the hugely successful hosting of the Toyota AFL Grand Final in Perth for the first time, so it is great to see this reflected in public feedback,” the minister said in a statement.

HBF Park, which is set to host the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand, was voted third best A-League Stadium in Australia.
