Zekulich CFO at Oakajee

Wayne Zekulich has been appointed as chief financial officer of Oakajee Port & Rail, which is seeking to develop a $4 billion infrastructure project north of Geraldton. He is the former head of institutional banking at Commonwealth Bank in WA, and has previously headed the Perth offices of NM Rothschild & Sons and Deutsche Bank. He has extensive financing and capital markets experience, including mergers and acquisitions, arranging and underwriting funding for greenfield project financings and privatisations.

Rowe to help steer Navigator

Navigator Resources subsidiary Kimberley Rare Earths, which focuses on exploration of the Cummins Range rare earths project in the Kimberley region, has appointed Peter Rowe as a non-executive director. He was an executive vice-president for AngloGold Ashanti in Johannesburg before his retirement in 2009. He was also a director of the Fimiston Expansion (Kalgoorlie Super Pit), Boddington Gold Mine, Boddington Expansion Project and Bulong Nickel.

Bourke joins hospital board

Bethesda Hospital chairman Neale Fong has announced the appointment of Dominic Bourke as director of the Claremont hospital’s board. He was previously a partner at the law firm Clayton Utz, and his clients have included MDA National Insurance, Dental Protection (UK), Medical Indemnity Protection Society and United Medical Protection.

Three appointed to drought panel

Sue Middleton, a farmer from WA’s Wheatbelt, has been appointed to a three-member panel that will assess the federal government’s pilot drought reform measures being run in WA. She manages her diversified farm with 40 staff across three locations with her husband and his family. The other panel members are Mick Keogh, of the Australian Farm Institute, and company director Bob Granger.
