Northern Star hits high gold grade

NORTHERN Star Resources has recorded the highest gold grade drilling results ever taken from epithermal-style mineralisation in the East Kimberley region. The much sought after epithermal type of mineralisation — a hydrothermal mineral deposit mobilised in temperatures between 50-200° celcius occuring mainly as veins – was revealed by a 20-hole drilling program at the company’s Wilson River project, 130 kilometres north of Halls Creek. Perth-based Northern Star says shallow drilling on the Range prospect returned hits of five metres at 15.08 grams gold per tonne (g/t) and 34.94g/t silver from 23m; 8m at 1.42g/t gold and 0.81g/t silver from six metres, one metre at 1.08g/t gold and 33.5g/t silver from 38 metres and two metres at 1.02g/t gold and 26.5g/t silver from 18 metres. Northern Star managing director Charles Wilkinson said the drilling confirmed the shallow high-grade potential of the Range prospect. “Not only have the results confirmed the high grade results from earlier rock chip sampling, they support the potential of the emerging epithermal style mineralisation in the East Kimberley,” he said. “These results are the highest ever recorded from drilling of epithermal style mineralisation in the region.”
