Northbridge streetscape upgrade

Tuesday, 8 April, 2003 - 22:00

NEW and cleaner pavement, more shade trees, better light distribution, street furniture and universal parking bays are all part of the City of Perth’s street enhancement plan for Lake and James streets.

The draft concept plan for Lake and James streets is to be released for public consultation, with construction expected to commence in July.

The street enhancements will mark 12 years since the streetscape of Northbridge was last upgraded.

The first part of the works will be the stretch along James Street, from Milligan Street on the south side and Parker Street on the north side, to the Cultural Centre.

Proposed work on Lake Street from Aberdeen Street to Roe Street will be undertaken during the 2004-05 financial year.

All work is to take place between April and October to avoid disruption of commercial activities during summer.

City of Perth will also conduct a review of lighting in the whole of Northbridge.
