City of Melville chief executive officer Eric Lumsden has been appointed as the new director general of the Department of Planning and Infrastructure. Mr Lumsden, who will assume his new position in the next two months, was chief executive of the City of Swan for nearly 17 years, before joining the City of Melville. He is a member of the government’s stadia taskforce and a fellow of the Planning Institute of Australia, Australian Institute of Management and the Local Government Managers Association. Mr Lumsden replaces Greg Martin, who left the role to take up a research post with Curtin University of Technology.
