New car sales continue to fall in WA

June was another slow month for new car sales in Western Australia, while national sales continued to grow.

New car sales dropped 7.5 per cent to 11,503 in WA in June, with 937 fewer cars sold than in the previous corresponding period.

It brings the year-to-date figure down 8.4 per cent in WA, to 54,240 new cars sold.

Sales in Ford were down by 25.3 per cent in June, with 760 units sold in the state, while Holden sales were hit by a 15.9 per cent slide to 1,001 cars sold.

Toyota was the best performer in June with 2,147 new cars sold, however that’s 7.9 per cent less than what was recorded in the previous corresponding period.

Subaru sales were up 72.7 per cent to 494 sales, which was a much needed lift for the company as it brought its year-to-date total up by 4 per cent.

There were two Ferraris sold in June, in line with last year’s figure and brings the year-to-date total to 13, while the sale of a single Lamborghini brings the year-to-date total to seven.

Nationally, new car sales were up by 6.4 per cent in June to 125,850 sales, with the year-to-date total increasing by 3.3 per cent, to 578,427 cars sold.
