Navitas to establish college in the UK

Education services provider Navitas has entered into a 10-year agreement with University of Northampton to establish a pathway college for international students at the UK university.

The college is scheduled to open in October as the University of Northampton International College.

It will offer undergraduate pathway and pre-masters programs across subjects such as business, accounting, arts, sciences, engineering, sports performance and law.

“Students who successfully complete the Navitas pathway program will be eligible to continue their studies in undergraduate or postgraduate cources at UN,” Navitas said in a statement.

The university offers undergraduate degrees, foundation degrees, diplomas and postgraduate opportunities up to a PhD level, and is one of only a handful of universities in the UK to offer some two-year fast-track degrees.

It also offers four-year extended degrees with a year in industry.

Navitas chief executive Rod Jones said the company was confident of the future of international education in the UK.

“With the university’s focus on academic excellence and commitment to the student experience we believe we can create a highly attractive and successful college in partnership with the UN,” he said.

University of Northampton vice-chancellor Nick Petford said the university welcomed more than 1,000 international students from over 100 countries each year.

“Students joining us can expect to find high quality academic teachings, first class resources and a friendly, supportive learning environment,” he said.

The establishment of the international college is subject to regulatory approval on naming, as well as gaining formal listing as an embedded college at the UN by the UK immigration department.

Navitas shares closed 1 per cent lower at $4.76 per share.
