Lithium miner Pilbara Minerals has engaged NRW HoldingsPrimero Group for $64 million of work on the Pilgangoora operation expansion project.

NRW told the market that its subsidiary, Primero, had won the structural, mechanical and piping, electrical and instrumentation contract at the operation south of Port Hedland.

The hard-rock lithium operation's expansion project, dubbed P680, aims to increase its Pilgan Plant's production capacity by up to 100,000 tonnes per annum.

Once operational, the overall Pilgangoora operation’s nameplate capacity would target between 640,000 and 680,000tpa spodumene concentrate, according to Pilbara Minerals.

Under the contract, Primero will build crushing and ore sorting facilities and also assist with providing commissioning, integration and shutdown support.

It follows Primero’s earlier involvement during the first phase of the P680 expansion undertaking.

The work is expected to begin immediately and be completed in the third quarter of 2024.

NRW managing director Jules Pemberton said he looked forward to the successful completion of these works.

“This award continues to build on the long association between Pilbara Minerals and Primero that began with the design and construction of the original Pilgan Plant and continues with the delivery of the P680 expansion project,” he said.

NRW’s share price was trading down slightly by 0.968 per cent to $2.55 at 12.20PM AWST.
