Shares in Murchison Metals have been placed in a trading halt pending confirmation of construction contracts for the Oakajee port and associated rail, which are to be awarded to two Chinese firms.
Oakajee Port and Rail, a joint venture between Murchison and Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation, is currently in China with Premier Colin Barnett.
WA Business News has been told that OPR is preparing to appoint China Communication Construction Company as the port design consultant.
OPR will also strike an alliance with China Rail Construction Company.
Shares in Murchison last traded at $1.53.
