Monadelphous Group has won a $70 million construction, operation support and services contract with lead engineering contractor Bechtel for the early phases of the Wheatstone gas project near Onslow.
Work will commence in the first quarter of next year and is expected to be completed at the end of 2013.
Monadelphous managing director Rob Velletri said the company was pleased it had been selected to participate in the initial stages of another Australian energy development project.
The Chevron-operated Wheatstone project is one of Australia’s largest resource projects, with the initial phase liquefied natural gas capacity expected to be 8.9 million tonnes per annum.
Monadelphous shares were down 25 cents to $19.12 at 3pm WST.
