Minderoo targets $1m

Minderoo Foundation has set a new donation target of $1 million to support the build of Western Australia’s first children’s hospice.

The philanthropic organisation founded by Andrew and Nicola Forrest announced in November that it would double every dollar donated to Perth Children's Hospital Foundation’s Christmas Appeal 2022.

PCHF said its annual fundraiser has now raised more than the initial target of $800,000.

“Minderoo’s Building Communities initiative is devoted to increasing access to important community services to support those who need it most, like the children and their families who will benefit from this vital space,” Minderoo Foundation co-founder Nicola Forrest said.

“The growing wave of donations to support the Hospice is a testament to the compassion and spirit of giving that lives so strongly within the WA community,” Mrs Forrest.

“Our hope is that this commitment will serve as a rallying cry for the WA community.

“With over $800,000 raised to date, Minderoo has extended its matching up to $1 million to help take donations over the new appeal target and make a real impact on the support and care of WA’s sickest kids.”

Perth Children's Hospital Foundation chief executive Carrick Robinson said every donation would go a long way to help WA’s most ill children.

“Thanks to generous donations from the WA community, we have already raised more than $800,000 for the Children’s Hospice which is set to benefit up to 2000 WA kids living with a life-limiting condition,” Mr Robinson said.

He said currently children in WA can only access palliative through clinical settings at Perth Children's Hospital or at home.

“With the support of Minderoo Foundation, every dollar donated to this year’s PCHF Christmas Appeal will help us to fund a world-class home away from home for WA’s sickest kids,” Mr Robinson said.
