Thiess subsidiary MACA Interquip has acquired engineering firm Subiaco-based Mintrex, with the companies set to integrate in the coming weeks.

Founded in 1984, Mintrex focuses on engineering consulting, and project and asset management in the mining sector.

MACA bought a 60 per cent stake in Maddington-based Interquip for $8 million in 2016.

The value of MACA Interquip's acquisition of Mintrex has not been disclosed.

“We look forward to welcoming the Mintrex team in the coming weeks,” Thiess Australia West group executive David Greig said.

“Bringing the expertise of the two businesses together will enhance the position of MACA Interquip and the group more broadly, as we broaden our client offering and capability in the metals and mining sectors.”

MACA Interquip chief executive Geoff Jones said the acquisition was important in the future of the business.

Mintrex is well-established in the Western Australian market for designing and delivering state-of-the-art mineral processing plants and associated infrastructure,” he said.

“This future-focused acquisition will be a testament to shared capabilities for the development of a strengthened offering in the turn-key delivery of mineral processing facilities.”

Thiess expanded its foothold in WA after increasing its shareholding in Welshpool-based MACA in 2022, obtaining a 51.83 per cent shareholding.
