Winning Western Australian Inventor of the Year appears to be paying dividends for Live Technologies Ltd.

The company, whose managing director Roland Butcher won Inventor of the Year for his LiveLens technology, recently raised $750,000 during a roadshow in Melbourne.

Live Technologies Ltd chairman Rob Garton Smith told WA Business News the company was in its second presentation when it raised the money from one investor.

“We believe that winning Invention of the Year was very much of assistance as it more or less told any potential investors that the company has serious potential because it had been picked out of 150 companies,” he said.

LiveLens is an electro-optical technology that solves the problem of image loss through poor exposure.

A major selling point is that it can be used in all types of cameras, increasing the exposure latitude and improving the technical quality of the image.

Mr Smith said the money raised will be used to take the technology from bench test prototype to in-camera prototype, which can then be taken around the world and shown to companies interested in licensing the LiveLens.
