Lifestyle builds new homes

LIFESTYLE changes are persuading more families to build a new home rather than buy an established home says Commodore Homes general manager Anthony Kinder.

“Formal areas in homes have dominated design in Perth for 100 years. This is being changed by the desire of families for homes to focus on family areas,” Mr Kinder said.

“Home theatre rooms are now replacing the traditional games room while the whole family room-kitchen area is open plan in response to consumer demand for a greater sense of space.

“The married mid-30s family group is now driving the push from upgrading to an established home into building a new home.

“Over the past twelve months demand for new homes by this group has nearly doubled,” he said.
