Medical Practitioners Registration Act
WA’s Medical Act (1894), which establishes the Medical Board of WA with its registration and disciplinary functions, is to undergo a transformation into the Medical Practitioners Registration Act.
The change will not be in name only, with a State Administrative Tribunal to be established to handle, among other matters, serious complaints against doctors.
The Medical Act was most recently reviewed in 1993 and in 1997.
Racing and Wagering
The Racing and Wagering WA Bill providing for an all-encompassing Racing and Wagering WA board has passed through the Legislative Council.
The new board will be operational from August 1.
