K2fly mining software scores elite SAP global endorsement

Thursday, 26 November, 2020 - 11:33

Global mining software developer, K2fly, has had its Land Access, Communities and Heritage, Ground Disturbance and Rehab software K2fly Solutions certified as an Endorsed App by global business processes provider SAP.  K2fly is now one of only 12 companies around the world to be endorsed by SAP whose salesforce and marketing muscle will now be let loose selling K2fly solutions across its global network.

In what is somewhat of a coup for the Perth-based software developer, K2fly has joined an elite, “by invitation only”, group of 12 SAP-certified companies in the world who have been selected for best-practice processes across their supply chains.

K2fly said SAP Endorsed Apps is a new category of software solutions designed to support its global partners striving to become best-run, intelligent enterprises by complementing and extending SAP products which are already built in to the SAPs processes.

SAP’s Global VP and Head of Industry Unit Mill Products and Mining, Stefan Weisenberger commented: “We are very excited to partner with K2fly for SAP’s roadmap towards the SAP Industry Cloud – specifically for the mining and resources industry. K2fly’s current solution set for enterprise land management is very complementary to SAP implementations and something our customers are increasingly in need of.”

Whilst K2fly’s flagship software-as-a-service, resource management product “RCubed” has already been rolled out at more than 200 mine sites across the globe, its K2fly Solutions package which manages other key areas of large resource and infrastructure projects also has a loyal and growing following.

With RCubed already working away at the likes of the big iron ore miners in Australia, including Rio Tinto, Fortescue Metals Group and Roy Hill, SAP’s sales force will now be incentivised with direct compensation to sell K2fly software throughout its global network. The SAP sales force will be let loose to chase other mega-miners and slot in K2fly Solutions alongside RCubed.

The company said the initial marketing focus will be via channelling SAP’s Mill Products and Industry Mining Unit however, the SAP sales force will expand to cover other industry groups.  SAP already services 98 of the world’s top 100 mining companies on its books, according to K2fly.

Mr Weisenberger added: “SAP’s global mining advisory council was instrumental to kick off the development of K2fly’s new solution for Tailings Reporting and Governance which is due for release at the end of this year.”

To support its global marketing aspirations and manage its alliance with SAP, K2fly has beefed up its team by appointing Brisbane-based David Glynn as Director for Strategic Partnerships.  K2fly highlighted Glynn’s has distinguished career in sales and marketing with global computing heavyweight, IBM, prior to joining the company.

Commenting on the development with SAP, K2fly Chief Commercial Officer, Nic Pollock, said: “This is a very important announcement for K2fly as we look to scale out Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings globally. The SAP invitation to join their Endorsed Apps program required us to undertake rigorous technical testing with SAP engineers to ensure that our product suite was compliant in every aspect. I’m thrilled to say that our technical colleagues worked tirelessly to achieve this certification and we are now looking forward to working with SAP sales executives around the world to promote our SaaS solutions to their existing clients.”

K2fly has already managed to put its toe in the water of other industries after recently signing up French nuclear fuel producer, Orano SA.  However, with SAP covering the complete alphabet of industries, from Aerospace to Defence and Healthcare, through to Wholesalers and Telecommunications, the SAP endorsement and marketing muscle may have delivered an early Christmas present for K2fly.
