West Leederville-based branding and digital company Juicebox has acquired a major shareholding in an Indonesian agency.

Juicebox today announced its merger with Island Media, a brand and digital agency based in Indonesia.

The acquisition will enable Juicebox to capitalise on Island Media’s experience and network, and extend its footprint into South-East Asia, the company said.

Juicebox is the fourth biggest on the Business News list of advertising and branding agencies in Western Australia, behind The Brand Agency, The Marketforce Group, and Bonfire.

Juicebox director and co-founder Joel Pember said a recent business tour across Indonesia’s two biggest cities had provided further motivation.

He said he learned that Indonesia’s digital economy was expected to grow rapidly, from 5.8 per cent to 20 per cent of its national GDP, by 2025.

Indonesia ranks fifth in the smartphone superpower rankings by size with an 80 per cent device adoption rate in its population of about 270 million people.

The country is sixth in the world and highest in South-East Asia for startups, according to Mr Pember.

“This acquisition is not just about expanding our business; it's about tapping into a wealth of talent, experience, and insights,” Juicebox managing director Chris Nelson said.

“We are confident that by joining forces, we will be able to unlock synergies that redefine our offering and improve every client engagement.”

Island Media managing director Jonathan Cross said becoming part of Juicebox was an exciting chapter for the company.

“We are proud of what we have achieved over the last decade in the Indonesian market, and with Juicebox's support and integration of our teams, we are eager to deepen our capabilities and expand our market leadership here and across the wider region,” he said.

Last year, Juicebox acquired Fremantle business Freeform, taking its head count to 50 people.
