Budget airline Jetstar says it will introduce non-stop flights from Perth to the Indonesian island of Lombok in September.

The flights will be the first non-stop service from Australia to Lombok, while Jetstar will offer special $119 one-way fares to kick off the route.

Jetstar Australia and New Zealand chief executive David Hall said increasing the company’s presence in South East Asia built on its strategy to be the region’s low fares leader.

Jetstar will operate four flights each week to Lombok.

Perth Airport executive general manager of corporate affairs and organisational development, Fiona Lander, said Lombok was fast becoming a major holiday destination for Perth travellers.

“We have been working collaboratively with Jetstar to establish this new service, and we are delighted that West Australians and Indonesians will have this exciting direct travel opportunity,” Ms Lander said.

Previously, if Western Australian travellers wished to visit Lombok they would have to fly direct to Bali, before boarding a separate flight or ferry to Lombok.

The flight time for the direct service to Lombok will be comparable to a flight to Bali – 3 hours and 40 minutes.
