Irabeena centre to fall for apartments

• A PLAN to knock down the Irabeena Centre and a four-storey office building at 53 Ord Street, West Perth and replace it with a seven-storey, 100-apartment building has been approved by Council.

A staff note to council said neither of the buildings earmarked for demolition were listed on council’s Draft Municipal Heritage register.



• MAX Hipkins has been appointed council’s director of planning. The former Nedlands Council executive beat planning consultant Ken Adam for the role.

Council CEO Garry Hunt has had his contract renewed for an extra two years. Council director service units Garry Dunne has had his contract renewed for a five-year term.



• THE City of Perth web site has been revamped. Since it began operating, the number of hits has increased from 5,673 in August to 9,145 in November.
