Ian Campbell joins ASG board

Tuesday, 12 June, 2007 - 10:43

Former Liberal senator Ian Campbell is to join the board of Perth-based IT services provider ASG Group Ltd as a non-executive director.

Mr Campbell, who resigned from the federal senate last month, had announced his intention to take on board roles once his committments to federal parliament were fulfilled.

The former senator was forced to quit cabinet in March after it was revealed he had held a 20-minute meeting the previous year with disgraced former premier Brian Burke, though there was no indication Mr Campbell had done anything improper.

The relative misdemeanor became a national issue because federal opposition leader Kevin Rudd was under fire for attending a dinner organised by Mr Burke.

ASG managing director Geoff Lewis said the directors look forward to the wealth of commercial and government experience and broad range of skills that Mr Campbell would bring to the board.
