THREE southern suburbs residents, Mandurah’s Valma Fisher, Spearwood’s Grant Powell and Rivervale’s Barbara Sharp have been credited with coming up with the name for the Fiona Stanley Hospital, the 1,000 bed facility to built in Murdoch.

The three suggested the name in a competition run in the southern suburbs community newspapers last year.

They receive Healthy Prize Packs along with the honour of choosing the hospital’s name.

Seven others were awarded prizes for their contributions.

They were:

Banksia Hospital – Christine Mitson (South Perth);

Southern Swan Hospital – John Coleman (Palmyra);

Quokka General Hospital – Noel Phillips (Rivervale);

Jacaranda Hospital – Mrs PJ Tring (Bateman);

Southern Haven – Mrs S Gormley (Attadale);

Strickland Hospital – Robert Tana (Noranda); and

Heart of the South – Kylie Cole (Mandurah)
