Former Karara Mining boss Dale Harris has taken a leading iron ore role at engineering consultancy firm Hatch.

Mr Harris has been appointed regional director for iron ore in Australia-Asia at Hatch, and will remain based in Perth.

He will focus on strengthening Hatch’s position in the iron ore sector and developing opportunities to provide the company’s services to clients.

Mr Harris previously served as chief executive of iron ore company Karara Mining, and was managing director of Gindalbie Metals (one of Karara’s major shareholders) prior to that.

Before his tenure at Gindalbie and Karara, Mr Harris spent about 14 years at Rio Tinto in a number of roles, including as iron ore chief operating officer before his departure from the mining giant in 2013.

Hatch has established itself as a global leader in mining and metals over many decades, developing a proven capability to solve the toughest challenges in the sector,” Mr Harris said on his appointment.
