Perth-based HHG Legal Group will open a new regional office in Bunbury after acquiring boutique law firm Kroon Legal.

The office, HHG Legal Group Bunbury, will officially open on January 1.

HHG chairman Simon Creek said it was a logical move for the business, which has existing firms in Perth, Joondalup, and Mandurah and in Albany, where HHG was established in 1919.

"One of our unique points of difference is our commitment to all of WA – Perth CBD, the northern and southern growth corridors and the regions," he said.

"Bringing medium sized, full service, and blue chip legal services to the South West has been a personal project of mine for over five years."

HHG opened its Perth office in 2006, which was followed by an expansion into Mandurah in 2015 and in Joondalup in 2019.

The business moved its headquarters to the Cloisters Building on Hay Street, in the CBD, earlier this year.

It has 53 staff in WA, according to Business News Data & Insights.

The Kroon Legal team of four, which includes founder Rod Kroon and his wife Wendy Taylor, will continue to work with HHG.

Mr Kroon said HHG was a perfect fit for Bunbury, given its existing regional influence.

He said Mr Creek and fellow HHG solicitor Murray Thornhill worked with clients both in Perth and in regional WA.

"HHG lawyers are just as happy on St Georges Terrace as they are in Albany or Bunbury," Mr Kroon said.

"I am looking forward to managing HHG Bunbury and working with the firm's leadership team to serve the entire South West".

HHG Legal was recently the winner of the State/Regional Law Firm Excellence Award, as part of the Australasian Law Awards.

It also has its own charitable arm, HHG Giving Back, which provides pro bono legal support to various community groups.
