Australian mineral exploration company Sirius Resources (ASX: SIR) is pleased to announce the appointment of experienced geologist and mining executive, Mr Terry Grammer, to its Board as a Non-executive Director.

Mr Grammer is one of Australia's most successful prospecting geologists, with a career spanning more than 35 years in Australia, Africa, Asia and New Zealand.

He was joint winner of the AMEC Prospector of the Year Award in 2000 for his role in the discovery of the highly profitable Cosmos nickel deposit in 1997 - which subsequently underpinned the development of Jubilee Mines NL as a leading mid-tier Australian mining company prior to its takeover by Xstrata.

Mr Grammer was a founder of the successful mid-tier nickel miner Western Areas in 1999, holding the position of Exploration Manager from 2000 until his retirement in 2004. He is also currently the Chairman of South Boulder Mines, which owns the recently discovered Rosie nickel deposit in joint venture with Independence Group, and was previously a Director of Hannans Reward and Montezuma Mining.

Mr Grammer's outstanding track record complements that of Sirius' Managing Director, Dr Mark Bennett (who discovered LionOre's Thunderbox gold deposit and Waterloo nickel deposit), and its largest shareholder, Mark Creasy (who discovered the Bronzewing gold deposit) - both former Prospectors of the Year.

Commenting on Mr Grammer's appointment, Sirius' Chairman, Stephen Lowe, said: "We are delighted to have secured someone of Terry's calibre and track record to join the Sirius Board. Terry's experience gained from a long and successful career in nickel exploration will be of significant value to Sirius, as will his extensive contact network within the industry.

"We look forward to Terry's input as Sirius ramps up its exploration efforts on its prospective nickel and base metal projects in Western Australia over the coming months, commencing with a drilling program on the Lawlers nickel project."

The first of several planned drilling programs commenced recently at Lawlers to test a series of EM targets. The project comprises the nickel sulphide rights on two separate but contiguous Joint Ventures with Barrick Gold on ground surrounding the Lawlers gold mine.

The project covers 80 strike kilometres of extensions of the stratigraphy which hosts WA's major nickel sulphide mines including Leinster, Mount Keith, Cosmos, Waterloo, Prospero and Sinclair.

Sirius' other priority exploration project is the Polar Bear Project, located in the Widgiemooltha region, which is highly prospective for nickel sulphide and gold mineralisation.
