Georgiou awarded NSW road contract

Perth-based Georgiou Group has won a road construction contract in NSW, with the overall project worth about $140 million.

Under the Roads and Maritime Services contract, Georgiou will upgrade and widen 3.2 kilometres of Mona Vale Road in Sydney.

The works will involve building additional climbing and descending lanes to improve travel times and includes the upgrade of a roundabout to a signalised intersection.

Construction will begin in February 2019, with expected completion in late 2021.

Georgiou chief executive Rob Monaci said the company was pleased to have secured the work.

“Our experienced team is excited to deliver this vital piece of infrastructure to Sydney’s northern suburbs and we look forward to again working with Roads and Maritime to leave a legacy behind that we can all be proud of,” he said.

Georgiou is currently completing a number of projects in NSW, inclduing the M1 Weakleys Drive intersection upgrade, Northern Road upgrade, Windsor Bridge replacement project, Bolivia Hill upgrade and Pimlico to Teven stage three project. 

The company currently has about $700 million work-in-hand across its operations.
