Telecommunications and power infrastructure contractor GenusPlus Group has notched $40 million worth of work on ACCIONA’s major solar farm project in Queensland.

The Belmont-headquartered company was awarded the contract by ACCIONA Energía to design and build the substation at the under-construction Aldoga solar farm project near Gladstone.

The Spanish major is developing the 380-megawatt solar farm and 275-kilovolt substation on land leased through the Queensland government.

Under the contract, GenusPlus will undertake detailed design work, procurement, installation and civil works for the substation over a 12-month period this year.

The contractor is expected to engage 70 local workers for substantial project valued at $500 million.

GenusPlus managing director David Riches said the company was pleased to be boosting its presence on the eastern seaboard through the project.

“The award of this contract highlights the strength of our customer relationships and our reputation for reliable delivery, and the company looks forward to building on its existing relationship with ACCIONA,” he said.

GenusPlus’ shares last changed hands at 1.39, up 2.9 per cent, at 2.40PM AWST.
