Gallop resignation

Geoff Gallop dropped a political bombshell that resonated through business and political circles across the country when he announced his immediate retirement as Premier of Western Australia. Citing the debilitating effects of depression, Dr Gallop said his doctors had advised him that with treatment, time and rest, his illness was ?very curable". However, he could not be certain how long it would take so, in the interests of his health and family, he had decided to resign.
